Well I went on another date last night and it was okay. He was a nice guy and conversation was good. He was a little younger than I like them – 25! When he went to the bathroom I looked to my right and noticed that there was a guy sitting there alone at the bar. I asked him why he was there at the bar by himself. He told me that he had to go back to work after eating dinner and having a drink.
He's an architect. I told him that was too bad. At about this time my current date came back and sat on my left. Mr. architect told me that maybe we could meet again. I kind of looked at him questioningly and he asked if he could have my number. I told him that probably wasn't a good idea - nodding towards my current date who is playing on his phone. So the architect suggested that we meet the same place same time next week which means we would meet up next Wednesday at the bar at 7 PM. I told him that sounded like a great idea. He said goodbye and left and I turn back to my current date who was completely unaware of what had just happened to his right. No, I know this sounds like a mean thing for me to do but you just have to take life as it comes and you never know what could happen! After a while my date points out someone down at the bar and tells me that my friend is back. That's what he believed. I looked down and see Mr. Architect sitting at the bar a few chairs down. I hop up and go over to see why he is back. He told me that he came back because he realized he was not going to be able to meet up next Wednesday so he really would need my phone number! I told him to wait a bit and I would come back. My date and I ended up closing our tabs and we said our goodbyes. I pretended like I was going to go to the bathroom and my date left. When I came out of the bathroom I went and hung out at the bar with Mr. architect. I gave him my phone number for real this time and hopefully we can meet up again soon! It's kind of funny how life works out, you never know what could come across your path and I don't like to be one to turn anything down if it peaks my interest!

5
It is truly amazing to see a child's face light up when they can write the number 5 for the first time on their own...a reason why I love my job...it's the little things...

BO
Well I went on a couple dates with 3R (the guy from six years ago), and I thought it strange that he smelled of a very strong BO a couple of times. I mean I get that e is building a bar and is sweaty but if we are going out, put on another layer of deodorant or a new shirt or just spray yourself down!
We were at Concerts on the Square with some friends when he finally gets there (yes he's always late). He reeks of BO...again!! What the f?! Really dude?!
Every time he raises his arms I am super embarrassed because my friends can smell him from across the blankets. Ugh!
Well funny story, I end up finding out that he doesn't believe in soap or deodorant! I was so stunned I didn't really ask him about why. Then he goes to raise his arm and lean towards me - telling me to smell him because all he smells like is bar and sandpaper and his natural scent. Well no thank you your natural scent is gross and scares people away!!
It's a deal breaker for me...so we ended up being done but in a way where we can be friends and I can still go to his bar now that it's open!
A couple weeks later I ended up going in for drinks and guess what - yep you guessed it - he reeked! An he asked me out again...I just smiled and said goodbye :)

Up North
The rents and I went up north this last week in August as our annual tradition. It was a great week up north and we did lots of things. I made a new headboard, we went biking with Dick Leinenkuegel, kayaking, rescued and planted two trees on our land, lots of reading and relaxation. I also got to make mom and dad my two favorite recipes a shrimp appetizer and a chicken artichoke green olive dinner.
I really look forward to this week up north because it is a great chance for me to take a step back and enjoy some peace and quiet with two people who will always love and support me.

New recipe - guacamole tomato basil chicken
Made a new recipe tonight! Love throwing stuff together and getting something fantastic from it!
Put cup and a half of couscous on the stove.
In big saucepan open three individually sealed tomato-basil Seasoned chicken. Cube and put into pan with oil.
Chop one big white onion and put in the pan. Add some cloves of garlic (or garlic powder).
Then add a couple handfuls of chopped cilantro, one to two tomatoes, chopped green olives (if desired) and the juice from an entire lemon.
Cut another lemon and add half of that's juice to the couscous when it's done cooking.
Put some couscous in the bottom
Of your bowl, add the chicken mixture on top and add a spoonful or two of guacamole on top! Yum!!!

Second First Date in 6 years...
Second-first-date (SFD) guy called me on Tuesday (I hate when they wait the 3 days, but he only waited 2). We talked and joked for a bit and then decided on meeting at Natt Spill for a drink. It's a nice, quiet local place - a nice chance to talk and catch up. I got there a bit early to start on my drink and calm my nerves.
He walked in and we instantly were chatting and talking a lot. We got along really well :) Again, we reviewed what we have been doing the last years, and he proceeded to tell me that he is currently in the process of building and opening a bar this July! Pretty impressive. As we chat more, I come to find out that the young professional networking group I am on the social committee for is having our happy hour there in August! Small world right?
It's a very construction zoned place right now, but it was pretty cool to hang out there and hear him talk about it. The owners of two other bars nearby saw the window shades open, brought over beers and we ended up hanging out and talking for a while. It was a good time, and I had a lot of fun! Eventually, he took me back to my car and I got home into bed (past my bedtime).
Second First Date
We were out boating memorial day weekend on a Sunday. It was an all day event and it was super fun! We were on a pontoon and then met up with other friends, tied our boats together and hung out in the bay all day. We tried to get in the water but it was SO cold that we could only stay in a couple minutes before freezing! It was nice to cool off though, as it was real hot that day.
After a while, about 5pm, we decided to go to a house party on Lake Mendota. At first I wasn't really having it, but what else were we going to do? We got there, and there were people everywhere in swimsuits! So fun, casual and people just there to have a good time on a good day. As we were walking off the pier, I noticed this guy in the water peeing and cooling off (weird combo I know) in his boxers! He had seaweed all over him too - I told him this and also complimented his monkey boxers but thought he might want to cover up! We went up to say hello to the house owner, but didn't stay long in there as it was stuffy as all get out. I also didn't want to play the drinking games on the lawn with others, just not in the mood for that. So we ended up going back out on the pier to hang out.
We were doing introductions with some people and a guy came up to me and introduced himself (of course it was monkey boxers guy!).
"Hi I'm Peter." Reaching out his hand to me.
I looked at him and said "Hi, I'm Lindsey...and we went out on a date 6 years ago!"
He kind of laughed and said "take off your sunglasses!"
I took them off, he remembered and we caught up for a while. After joking around for a bit, not remembering how we first met, he laughed and said "Haha, well I think we should go out for drinks again!"
I totally thought he was joking and kind of laughed it off.
He looks at me "you think I'm kidding don't you?"
"Well...yeah..."
"Nope, let's go out for a drink sometime...if that's cool."
I was pretty surprised, but since I'm in my 30s life motto WHY NOT? I gave him my number! I also remember telling him I didn't remember him being this outgoing and funny 6 years ago (probly not the nicest thing to say), and he smiled and said that things change in 6 years.
We'll see how it goes, but I am kind of excited...he's a good guy :)

Christina Perri
Saw her in concert tonight - it was better than I thought! She explained just about every song which I like, she was smiling the entire time and seemed really excited to be there and into her music. She seemed really down to earth and I enjoyed it thoroughly! Love live music!

Date
So I went to this crazy event on Thursday and met a guy who wanted to go out for a drink the next day. Since my 30s are all about "WHY NOT?!" I thought - sure! Well it was totally a bust. It started off okay but he was a nonstop compliment-er. I had the most pretty nails. I had such natural beautiful hair. I had great eyes. I am in great shape. I have great feet. I have an awesome sense of style, etc etc etc! It was just WAY too much. Finally I told him that he had reached his max for compliments and he asked me what his max was. I told him I wasn't sure but I was feeling uncomfortable. He told me that I better start getting used to it...no thanks! The worst part of it all was that his head was bleeding! He had this huge Band-Aid on the back of his head. He told me it what it that it was from an ingrown hair that got infected and he had to go to the doctor that day to get part of his scalp removed to get rid of it. It was disgusting and I was embarrassed to be with a guy who had blood coming through his Band-Aid! Gross! Finally when we were done having a drink and some food he asked me what I wanted to do next. I didn't want to do anything so I made up this story that my friend had just gotten broken up with by her boyfriend to get out of there. He totally believed it but told me that the next day he was going to be at work and would be texting me all day because he couldn't stop thinking about me. Seriously dude we had just met the night before - calm down! I went over to my friends house afterwards and told the whole story to them! He has since texted me today and I have not responded - trying to figure out what I can text him to get rid of him. I am worried that he might be a stage 5 Clinger!

Weight!
The weight that I have been
Steadily gaining for the last 6 years is finally coming off! By eating less carbs (maybe one or two a day), drinking 5-6 big glasses of water a day, and working out well I have taken off 10 of the 15 pounds I wanted to lose!! Took me a couple months but I am so happy with the results and am just going to keep at it! Feel better about my body than I have in years :)

Funny convo
I was talking with one of my students about his mom going to Ghana because her mother had died.
Me: Andy did you go to the airport to see your mom fly off?
Andy: Yea we did! It was cool!
Me: She went to visit your grandma, grandpa and other family right?
Andy: Well my grandma is dead, so not her!
Me: Ah yes sorry you're right
Andy: Yup!

Factoid #1
Factoid of the day: The first line of the standard American keyboard setup (qwertyuiop) or (QwertYuiop) was dirived from the man who made the keyboard; Zux Covb Nem. He subtlely put in his name, and Qwert's (who was his hero) into the lines of the keyboard. Thinking that Qwert was more important than he, Zux put in Qwert's Full name into the keyboard, where his own was stripped of vowels, Shortening it to Zx Cvb Nm.
Birthdays
What my wonderful teaching friends did for me! Love birthdays - my motto is: if you weren't born on that day, we might never had met!

Back at it again!
Well we are back at school after a MUCH needed two week break! The kids were pumped to come back. I think mostly because they are glad to have structure and a schedule back in their life. At school they know what will happen each day all day. From the neighborhood I'm in, a lot of my students don't have any structure at home - it's sad really.

Rose Bowl
Well the Badgers lost the Rose Bowl for the second year in a row...so sad... It was super fun watching it with a good friend and the man of her dreams - hope I can have that someday...
